Jessica Backhaus is regarded as one of the most distinguished voices in contemporary photography in Germany today. Her work is exhibited and published internationally. Born in Germany in 1970, she studied photography and visual communication in Paris. From 1995 to 2009, Backhaus lived and worked in New York. To date she has eleven publications to her name. She lives and works in Berlin.
